Some pairings just make sense the second they hit the table. Cider and cheese is one of them.
On Saturday, May 30, we’re bringing back our guided Cider & Cheese Pairing at the City Orchard taproom, and we’re teaming up once again with Adrianne from Curd Culture for a night of crisp pours, artisan cheese, and flavor combinations that are as fun to talk about as they are to taste.
Whether you came to our last pairing or missed it the first time around, this is your chance to pull up a seat, sip through City Orchard ciders, taste thoughtfully selected cheeses, and learn why apples and cheese belong together on the same board.
What to Expect
This is not a stiff, formal tasting. It’s a relaxed, guided experience built for people who love good food, good drinks, and learning a little something along the way.
During the event, you’ll taste your way through a curated lineup of City Orchard ciders and artisan cheeses, with each pairing chosen to show off how flavor, texture, acidity, and sweetness can work together.
Think bright apple notes meeting rich, creamy bites.Bubbles cutting through buttery textures.Dry cider balancing salty, nutty cheese.Fruit-forward pours bring out flavors you may not have noticed on the first sip.
Each round is designed to give you that quintessential “oh, I get it now” moment.
Meet Your Cheese Guide: Adrianne from Curd Culture
We’re excited to welcome back Adrianne from Curd Culture, a Houston-based cheese educator, Certified Cheese Professional®, and cheese board expert who knows how to make cheese feel approachable, interesting, and genuinely fun.
Adrianne brings deep knowledge without the intimidating tasting-room vibe. She’ll walk guests through the cheeses, explain what to look for in each bite, and show how different styles pair with cider in surprising ways.
You’ll learn about texture, flavor, origin, balance, and why certain cheeses shine next to certain pours.
In other words: it’s part tasting, part mini cheese class, and part excuse to spend your evening with a very good glass and a very good plate.

Why Cider and Cheese Work So Well Together
Wine and cheese traditionally get most of the spotlight, but cider deserves a permanent place on the board.
At City Orchard, we make cider with real apples, and that fruit character gives every pour a natural connection to cheese. Apples already belong on a cheese board, so cider brings that same bright, orchard-driven flavor into the glass.
Cider’s acidity can cut through rich cheeses and refresh your palate between bites. Its fruit notes can bring out nutty, earthy, sharp, or creamy flavors. And when bubbles are involved, they add lift and keep each pairing feeling fresh instead of heavy.
It’s simple, really: Good cider makes good cheese even better.
And once you taste them side by side, it’s hard to go back.
Built for Date Night, Friend Night, or Just a Really Good Saturday
This event is perfect for couples, friends, food lovers, cider fans, cheese board builders, and anyone who wants a night out that feels a little different from the usual.
